back to Peavine Trail
At the start of the Peavine trail, the sky looks rather ominous. There are
portable toilets at the beginning of the trail. There are also mile markers
for at least the first three miles (I haven't gone past that yet). This
photo was taken looking back from the trail toward the trailhead.
The Peavine trail was once a railroad. The rails and ties are gone leaving a
reddish colored trail. It is winter when this shot was taken, so the trees
are bare.
A Great Blue Heron
(Ardea herodias). It knew I was there, so I had to take this with my zoom lens.
Water fowl of other sorts were congregating down near the lake.
Can you have too many shots of water fowl, really? This shows the 69 on the other side
of Watson lake. The vehicles are stopped.
Note the granite formations across from Watson Lake. The trail goes into these rocks.
On another day, when it isn't so cold, I will take more pictures.
