Pictures from a trip to San Diego. It was nice to get away from the Tucson
heat. About 20 minutes from the shoreline, the temperature dropped to mid
eighties.
![]() First stop was La Jolla to check out the beach. The beach is largely comprised of sandstone, which gives interesting features. ![]() A seagull standing on a sandstone cliff. The temperature was about 75°F, the sun was bright, and the water was blue. ![]() This is some sort of observation pier/breakwater. The people on the pier were looking at the seals on a little island just off the beach. ![]() The seals. ![]() This is a sea cave that passes right through. ![]() Sea fowl against a blue sea. ![]() Further up was a sea cave where snorkelers were having a good time. The cave passes all the way through, and also has an upper entrance from the Cave Store. ![]() This is the Cave Store. For $4, you can descend the 145 stairs to a platform inside the sea cave. ![]() The tunnel was excavated by two Chinese laborers over the coarse of the year of 1902. ![]() This is what the cave looks like from the platform. They renamed the cave Sunny Jim Cave after the mascot for some cereal brand. ![]() This squirrel was munching in the Jasmine. ![]() Next day, I happened upon a few sand dollars on Silver Strand beach along a walk toward Imperial beach. These were a rare commodity—apparently other people were looking for these, too. The hike was 3.8 miles one way, as the crow flies. ![]() I'm not sure exactly what this was, but it was sort of furry and green, so I took a picture. ![]() Again, I am not entirely sure what this is, but it was white and goopy, so I took a picture. ![]() This is the pier at Imperial Beach. There is a restaurant at the end serving seafood. ![]() This is the restaurant at the end of Imperial Beach Pier. I really should have only had the one sea bass taco plate rather than the two sea bass taco plate. ![]() A picture of the skyscape of San Diego downtown. It is a beautiful city, albeit busy. |
