Gary, Chloe, and I arrived early Saturday morning.
As a group, we went to a bad section of the road to smash rocks
and make it easier to traverse. While there, we investigated
the geology and paleontology Mike found several round
fossils he called "Schmoopiopods."
We also looked at the biology, for example, this cricket who seemed to blend into the landscape.
This tiny cactus has distinctive fruits.
Mike, Jim, and Gary show the amazing terrain that the San Francisco creek has etched away.
The San Francisco creek below.
This lizard also blends into its surroundings quite well. The slightest motion caught my
attention, so I took its picture.
After lunch, we headed as a group to check out caves and to see if there was a way
to get down to San Francisco creek without a rope.
We found a lot of upper layer caves that were quite small.
Jim took GPS points, and Mike named them after deceased pets.
Traversing down the canyon, I found this curved cliff.
Finally reaching the creek, I explored a bit, and I found this tadpole.
