Missouri Caves 2005

Summary
Missouri Caves 2005

— Speleothems —

The story:

It started as an E-mail from me to Dave P. mentioning the upcoming Arbor Day weekend. We had a prior adventure to Arbor Day Farm, conveniently located between us, so I mentioned this as an option, but that the weather looked bad and our mutual friend would be in Austin, TX.

Dave thought we should do something anyway since his time in Topeka may be limited. We bandied ideas until Dave found and suggested a cave tour of the Devil's Ice Box at Rock Bridge State Park in Missouri. At first I glossed over the idea, but after reading the rigors of the trip, I was hooked. We couldn't make it that particular weekend because they didn't have openings, so we planned a trip two weekends hence. He and I took the last two openings on the last tour of the season.

I decided to go a day early and check out a nearby cave, Jacob's Cave. I was then to stay in a Bed & Breakfast about ten miles from Rock Bridge. This is the story of the trip . . . .
