back to 2005 Texas
Wednesday morning we drove into Austin. I had been to Austin once before in 2000 but only passing through.
We headed straight downtown and stopped at the capitol. This statue and the skyline was taken from near
the state capitol.

We ventured into the visitor's bureau to get information. We did a short tour seeing a
few interesting things like the old star that was at the top of the capitol.
Julie takes a look through the telescope at the statue at the top of the capitol building.
I tried to take a photograph through this same telescope. It turned out better than I
would have thought.

One more shot of the Texas capitol from the visitor bureau. The pinkish hue is due to the
material of which the capitol is constructed—granite.
Finally we went into the capitol itself. There are regular tours, but we were early, so I
snapped a few photos. This is the inside of the dome from ground level.
