Hyena julie
Julie stands next to a hyena exhibit.

Lion tone
This lion growls at Tone, but Tone has nothing to fear. The lion had already eaten and was quite "stuffed."

Giant irish elk
Giant Irish Elk.

Julie alligator
Julie shows that she has a sense of humor, even if the alligator doesn't.

Wall of horns
Wall of horns.

Phillip k dick
They look like little deer, but they're really called Dik-Diks.

Mouse kills scorpions
I forgot the name of the mouse, but the exhibit said that this little mouse will go head to head with a scorpion, and win.

Carrier pigeon
Carrier pigeons are extinct.

Tuesday we headed South. First stop: Kartchner Cavern. We checked out the visitor center for awhile.

Click here to see a sign about speleothems which is a fancy name for cave formations. Specifically, the are mineral deposits of calcium carbonate that precipitate from solution in a cave.

There was an interesting movie about the cave, and we looked at the exhibits, but they wanted $19 to tour the cave and wouldn't let us take pictures. What's that all about?

I have seen many caves, so this one wasn't critical to me at this time.

We also wanted to do some hiking, but it was windy, windy, windy. We got out of there.

San pedro
Driving along, we stopped at the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area. This provided some nice trails to go for a walk. The weather started off beautiful.
