back to 2005 Mojave National Preserve
Tina was a bit tired, so stayed in the truck. Tim, David, and I did a cursory investigation
of the area.

Here are some burnt stumps in the area where they burned out non-indigenous trees.
Under these trees were two cememt picnic tables. In the blazing summer sun, this is
the place to be. Since it was not blazing summer weather, and Tina was waiting, we moved
on.
We saw the ruins of a house. The sign suggests there were hippies here at one time.

On the way back, I asked if we could stop to take pictures of the lake that wasn't a lake—usually there is a road here.
This picture shows "the end of the road."
It was windy enough to create waves. Water waves are both longitudinal and traverse.
That night we had a campfire. David had brought some uberwood that burned and burned and burned.
The desert temperature dropped, but the fire kept us warm for a while. Soon, however, it was time for sleep.
