David with a big smear of petroglyphs.
(See 2003 group shot at same place)
Me with those same petroglyphs.
A fish petroglyph.
More petroglyphs.
Even more petroglyphs.
That night, the wind was something fierce with gusts up to 50 m.p.h. Don't underestimate
desert wind. Mike's matches were blown everywhere. In the morning, David moved some wood
and found this scorpion. The match is for size contrast.
As a group, we decided to go to the Kelso Dunes. Mike & Andi would be taking off the
next morning, and the rest of the group were going to camp at Kelso Dunes that night,
so I thought it best to stay there that night rather than come back.
This was an interesting plant at the Kelso Dunes.
A desert wildflower at the dunes.
The Kelso Dunes are sand, and they are meant to be climbed. Who can see sand dunes and not wish to climb?
They're only 500 ft. high and only the second tallest (Eureka Dunes in Death Valley are #1) in the U.S. We head out.
