Departing North Platte, Nebraska early morning Friday, I noticed a truck on the I-80 with
an interesting back window. I tried to get a photo of the X-ray images.
I forget the town, but getting a shot of Pamida is as good as gold. I
tried to explain to Julie why this was important, but I think you had to be there
twenty some years ago when the song was written. Spud and Booker understand . . . .
Julie told me there were lots of stuffed animals at Cabellas, a sporting goods store.
I think the one we saw was in Sidney, Nebraska. The store was enormous with a large
menagerie of taxidermy. Julie poses in front of the scene. This is one of my
favorite shots of the trip.
An interesting look from a moose.
There was also an aquarium filled with interesting looking fish.
Another fish with a snout.
We stopped at Vedauwoo that Julie called "voo doo woo," and I called "vee dow woo," but it is really
pronounced: vee-da-voo. There were many fun granite formations screaming to be climbed. This
was the first time I had seen granite formations like this since leaving Prescott, Arizona last May.
Julie and went as far up this formation as she dared, then I did a bit more bouldering to get to the top.
Julie was waiting below in a place that didn't lend well to taking a picture of me at the top, but I made
it. No, really!
Julie and I took a shot in front of the formation I had just climbed.
