back to 2004 Devo Chicago
We dined at the Mexican Grille. Dave and I had already eaten at Denny's,
so I just ordered a taco.
If you look under the "open" sign in the window, you can see Dave P.
looking at the menu.
Meat, meat I say! I don't know that a vegan would feel comfortable walking
these streets at night.
Tom holds a menu at the restaurant while Dave ponders the almighty question
of "why is there more white than green in my wallet?"
The food looked appetizing, but Dave and I noticed Tom's decreasing happiness
after each bite. My taco, on the right, wasn't even worth me spending the
time to type this sentence.
How many shots can I take within a restaurant that serves bad food?
You just let me worry about that. I think I was taking a shot of the pots
hanging on the wall, but I got so much more.
At this point, we headed to the Devo concert. I drove the three of us
in the little Hyundai. It took us quite some time to get there as we
hit Friday rush-hour traffic.
It turns out we could have taken cameras into the theater. Unfortunately,
we did not.
The show was really good. Most of the members of Devo were replaced
with middle-aged, overweight men; but they played some good music and
put on a good show. The concert was short. They played about 45 minutes,
then came out for 1/2 hour encore with the last song featuring Booji Boy
singing "Beautiful World." During the song, he started spouting something
about terrorism, but wouldn't touch on G.W. Bush.
Tom, Dave, and I stopped at Denny's after the show for a bite to eat; after
which, Tom said his goodbyes and headed to his parents place in Milwaukee
to crash.
Next morning, Dave prints our boarding passes from the hotel Internet
connection. Those who have flown Southwest airlines know that you
getting into the "A" line means you get on the plane first. Printing
the boarding passes via Internet seems to magically get you into
the "A" line.
