Jay looking into piute
About 20 minutes later I suggested that we head back because Joe and Bill were waiting for us. Then we couldn't find Tom. Jay looks into the gorge to find Tom. Tom was only a few minutes behind; he had found a tortoise shell and brought it for us to investigate.

Mud cliffs
On parting shot of the mud cliffs. What a fascinating area.

Beavertail flower
We reached the trailhead for the Fort Piute hike. Along the way was this Beavertail cactus flower.

Cholla barrel yucca
You can see cholla, barrel cacti, and yucca along the route.

Petroglyph
There were a bunch of fake petroglyphs followed by some that were more realistic.

Green trees
It is hard to believe how green these trees are. Where there is water, there is green, and often forts.
