Hendry's slough.
When I first moved to Santa Barbara in 1997, I ran this beach nearly daily. I
built up my calves and was eventually able to do seven or eight miles. I've
run this beach hundreds of times.
Seeing surfers on this beach is sort of rare. Also, to the right is a
female topless sunbather. Usually you don't see them this close to
the Brown Pelican.

The beach from the other direction. It is this beach that made me fall in
love with Santa Barbara.
Later that day I got a crew of guys to bike Old San Marcos road. Wedge and
I used to do this quite frequently over the course of the year before I
left. JD joined us from time to time. This was my first time up with Jon.

Jon and I set a quicker pace and even went higher than the 154 highway. Jon is
a strong biker.
Jon and I made it back to the turn off at the 154. We chatted with Wedge and JD
for a bit.
