James contemplates handholds for a climb. It doesn't seem that volcanic rock is conducive to climbing.
The top of the cave shows a smorgasbord of melt.
Shortly up the tube is what appears to be a mine shaft. Perhaps it was an air tunnel?
A swollen red yucca bloom.
Hiking a bit further up the hills by the tube, I happened upon a depression of sand and Joshua Trees.
It struck me that this was an "anti-oasis."
Black Tank probably has a lot of water at certain times of the year. There are
trenches that bring the area run-off to it.
