back to Tuolumne Meadows 2003
On our way to Ireland Lake, we saw creeks that cut through the meadow. This
reminded me of my hiking experience in Scotland.
We finally reached snow level.
There wasn't a lot of snow in this area; and it wasn't really cold. The
snow sat in the shady areas of the meadow.
This picture looks like we were about to hit a glacier, but it is somewhat deceptive.
We are simply nearing Ireland Lake.
Ireland lake is surrounded by mountains at the back, and the meadow we had just traversed.
We were the only people at Ireland Lake. We had passed a group coming out
perhaps an hour before, but they decided not to stay the evening. Later
the next day we caught up with them. They had decided to stay at the
turn-off for Ireland Lake—about three miles away.
