We wandered through a veritable maze of washes. Many led a long distance only to become unpassable.

Smooth and hard to pass, we needed to backtrack in order to continue upward.

Mud rivulets.

Sunshine around the bend.

The Salton Sea became increasingly more visible as the day progressed.

Atop a mud ridge, I was able to get a reasonable view of the Salton Sea.
