Omaha — Platt River State Park 2004
Summary
Omaha — Platt River State Park (2004 May 29)
Having just purchased a Nebraska State Park pass, I sent an
E-mail to Lotto to see if he was interested in checking out
a park. Mahoney and Platt River parks are off of exit 426 on
the I-80, so we headed West.
The weather forecast was grim, but the storms weren't to
hit us until the afternoon. (Turns out they didn't hit
hard until much later in the evening.)
We first made it to the Platt River Connection Bridge, a
concrete bridge across the Platt River along an old railroad
right-of-way. It bears the name Lied, which is well known
around these parts.
Then we made it to the state park. We climbed the tower
and eventually found the falls. Hiking in Nebraska is
closer to "walking" than anything athletic, but it was
cool walking through the green foilage that I wouldn't
normally see in Arizona.
