Punkin Cave 2006

Summary

2006 November 04

Aimee Beveridge set up a trip to Punkin Cave for the first weekend in November. I had heard that this was a cool cave, and sure enough, it was.

Mike, Guin, and I left Friday afternoon and arrived first. Eventually people arrived.

Saturday we split up into groups. Matt, Saj, Wes, and myself in one group; Jim Kennedy, Gary Franklin, Mike, and David Ochel in another. (A third group did some Karst walking.) The two cave groups entered the cave around 10 a.m., and exited around 5 p.m.

The cave was wicked cool. Lots of breakdown meant lots of possible leads. The two groups did some cave mapping, then headed back after seven hours for a fajita and shark steak dinner that couldn't be beat.

Thanks to Aimee for setting this up. Thanks to Gary Franklin for the good grub. Thanks to Jim Kennedy for getting us into the cave and setting us up to map. Thanks to Matt for saying "I like CAVING!!! I want to do this A LOT!!!"

Thanks to anyone else whom I missed.
