Comanche Bluff Trail 2006

Summary

2006 June 03

Dave was diagnosed as ok, so it was high time for him, Andrew, and me to go for a hike. This was the last hike we would do together while all of us lived near Austin. I had been thinking about the Comanche Bluff Trail for awhile, and since it is close to where Dave lives, we decided to give it a go.

It was really hot that day. The trail was pretty easy to follow until the very end. At that point, I started crunching through a bunch of foliage in an attempt to find the correct route. It turns out that I went through a lot of poison ivy. It took about three days to show up, then I was miserable for about nine more days. Both Andrew and Dave got does of the ivy, but I don't know how bad.

The Comanche Bluff Trail lies in Taylor Park and follows the southern shore of Granger Lake. They do nick you $4 a person to get in. Coupled with the price of gas these days, and the fact that the trail is overgrown and, at least at the end, loaded with Poison Ivy, I might suggest choosing another hike.
