Subject: Re: Jammed ignition Date: Sun, 27 Oct 2002 10:19:28 -0800 From: Tone <*******@*****.com> To: **********@***.com Hi Vicki, I had noticed that opening the door to the car was becoming increasingly difficult over time--sometimes I needed to turn the key 180 degrees to get it to work. I think the problem occurred because of 9 years of wear on the key; the ignition simply didn't recognize the key anymore. The mechanic needed to use a pliers to get the key out. With the new ignition I received a new key that was re-keyed to the original key. I use this key only in the ignition now; my spare key is used only to unlock the door and trunk. I now realize the benefit of AAA towing, and I finally decided to procure a cell phone for such emergencies. I also created a "Disaster Recovery" envelope filled with phone numbers of towing services, mechanics, and people I know, just in case something like this happens again. I think the total cost was $200. Best of luck, --Tone **********@***.com wrote: > > Hi my name is vicki, I was doing some research on a jammed ignition > when i came across your site. you see i have the same problem, i have > a 1995 mustang with no way to drive it, the ignition just started > acting up the past week, but i still managed to at least turn it on an > off untill last wednesday.
