We haven't been as aggressive lately about going to northern Mexico as in recent years,
which is due mostly to the cartel violence that plagues the country. However, a couple of
exploratory trips this past summer indicate that it is probably safe to return as long as we:
If we get the cabin, some folks will still need to sleep in tents outside. We will buy groceries for everyone and cook group meals, so all you need to bring, besides your own caving and camping gear, are your cave snacks. We will have a mix of returning veterans and first-timers.
Most of the caves in the Laguna de Sanchez area are relatively short but require vertical skills (SRT). The deepest known cave is only 79m.
If you like camping, the high mountains of Mexico, virgin caves, survey, digging, and
caver camaraderie, then you should consider signing up for this trip. More information,
including photos and maps from previous trips, can be found on the project website: http://www.garot.com/LdeS/Definitely look at the Frequently Asked Questions page.
